The type of work you do with participants is challenging and highly important. The physical proxemics, intimacy and visceral, intuitive nature of the work seems like an antidote to modern society.

Who are we?

This is the core question explored by D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective in this high-energy physical theatre production.

Commissioned for the Asian Pacific Activities Conference (APAC) 2026 and hosted by the Hong Kong International School, this work brought together 60 young artists from 5 different countries.

In just 3 days, they expertly wove contemporary dance, Butoh, and Theatre Biomechanics into a magical story of diversity, identity, and the power of the human ensemble.

About the Show

When we look outside of that on which we depend, we ignore our unity; looking outward we see many faces; look inward and all is one head. If a man could but be turned about, he would see at once God, and himself, and the All. (Plotinus, The Enneads)

Before the fractures of the modern world, there were four peoples: Earth. Water. Air. Fire. Different in nature yet bound by balance.

Until Fire wanted more.

United: One Community, Many Voices is a sweeping physical theatre epic that reaches into myth to make sense of now—tracing the arc from harmony to domination, from isolation to reconnection. Performed with striking physicality and powerful imagery, United holds a mirror to our own age of division and asks the question every generation must answer for itself: (how) can we find our way back to each other?

But the most powerful thing about United is how it was made. Working with Artistic Director Cesar Genaro and D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective’s ensemble of multicultural artists, a group of young performers devised and staged this production in just three days—collaborating professionally as an ensemble, learning various physical theatre methodologies, and bringing a fully-realised performance to the stage.
