About Us

D.I.V.E. Theatre Collective is a Sunshine Coast-based multicultural contemporary theatre company that provides performing arts experiences of the highest calibre for audience members who come to see our shows, artists in search of purposeful development opportunities, school students and the community who participate in our training program and engagement activities.

Our Vision

Our aim is to strengthen connections, promote individual and social wellbeing, stimulate reflection and effect meaningful transformation in the lives of people and their communities through diverse, investigative, visceral and enlightening theatre experiences.

We create stories that empower artists and inspire individuals and groups to rethink their social context and produce positive change.

Our work is about telling timeless and universal stories that enable:

  • physical awareness
  • individual and social wellbeing
  • creative empowerment
  • training and development
  • community building
  • provocative reflection
  • theatrical poetry
  • theatrical investigation
  • immersion and participation

Our Values

We believe theatre should be accessible to anyone, anytime and anywhere.

We believe theatre is not just entertainment, but a tool for reflection and social action. We devise shows, based on contemporary social issues, that ask questions and stimulate the mind, rather than provide ready-made answers.

We believe in collective creation. We employ and engage performer-creators and researcher-actors who bring their background, experience, culture, time and energy to study, research, question, create and develop their own artistic seeds to be planted in our collective creative garden.

We believe in spect-actors, active audience members, who can be engaged with their bodies, minds and hearts during our performances and workshops. They go to the theatre not only to be entertained and to share memorable experiences but also to reflect, challenge themselves and question social and cultural assumptions.

We believe in movement, theatrical poetry and visual metaphor as the universal language of empowerment and change.

We believe in ongoing physical and political theatre training. This allows us to stay connected, strengthen our artistic community and develop a collective language, whilst improving a set of shared tools and skills to be used during the collective creation of artistic products.
